What happened
On 3 November 2026 Apple published “Siri AI is now open to all developers” on its developer news page. According to Apple, “starting today with the iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3, and visionOS 27.3 betas, a new Developer Preview enables any developer to integrate their app with Siri AI.” The preview lets any app “bring its content and actions directly into Siri AI by using App Intents”, the framework apps already use to describe what they can do. Apple also introduced “skills”, which it says let developers “teach Siri AI how to combine several actions into a single experience.”
Key details
- Who can use it: any developer on the new betas, through App Intents. Apple’s page lists Apple Intelligence Group Labs on 4 and 5 November for developers who want help.
- What a skill is: a way to describe a sequence of actions inside an app so that Siri AI can run them together as one request, instead of one action at a time.
- Device and language requirements: Siri AI is in beta in iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3, watchOS 27.3 and visionOS 27.3, and requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled device set to a supported language. Apple lists English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, with Traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese listed as coming soon.
- Where it is not available: Apple says Siri AI “is currently unavailable in the EU in iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS” and is not available for users under 13.
- Timing: Apple describes the preview as early access “before first shipping to customers in a few months”, with App Store submission opening in the spring.
- Cost: Apple writes that “expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future”. It gives no price and does not say which features that covers.
- Not confirmed by us: Apple’s documentation page for the preview did not load its body text when we read it, so requirements and limits beyond the news post are unchecked. We did not use secondary coverage for any figure.
Why it matters
Until now, what Siri AI could do inside third-party apps depended on Apple’s own integrations. This preview gives every developer a supported way to expose their app, and skills move the model from single commands toward multi-step tasks, which is the pattern other assistants use for agents. For people who use iPhones and Macs, nothing changes until the feature ships to customers in a few months, and the apps that adopt it will decide how useful it is.
Two limits are worth watching. Apple has not said what the future fee covers or costs, and the EU exclusion means a large group of users and developers will not see the feature at first. This is a developer beta, so behavior can change before release.
